Title Signature Instructions

How to properly sign the Michigan title
The registered owner of the vehicle must follow these steps:

  1. Sign on the front of the title where it reads “Signature of Seller(s)”.*If there are two owners on the title, both must sign.
  1. Print on the front of the title where it reads “Printed Name of Seller(s)”.If you do not have a title and are interested in applying for a duplicate title, Click Here

 

Duplicate Title Instructions

Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled in Michigan
The registered owner of the vehicle must follow these steps:

1. Download and fill out the Michigan Duplicate Title Application.

2. You can do one of the following options:

Time frame to get the title: 4 Weeks
Cost to obtain: $15

    • Mail the application to the Department of State.

Getting a duplicate title when the vehicle was last titled outside of Michigan The registered owner of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled in.
